Windows 7 wont recognise cd drive




















Two are IDE and one is Sata. None of them are recognized by this computer, but all of them work on my other computer using the same cables. I have unplugged my HDD completely on reboot. Hi brvheart, I think you formatted it with Win 7 DVD. Try using third party utilities like GpartedLive CD to boot into and delete all partition. Now you should not have any space before your First partion - Once it is done use the delete partion option to delete the partition that you moved in earlier step closer to track 1. This requires a straightened paper clip to open the loading tray through the small eject pin hole on the front of the tray. A small flat head screw driver to depress the plastic front fascia side tabs once the tray is in the open position to pop it out. Since it is a Desktop and the Drives are easy to change could you get your hands on a known working unit to test with in the HP Desktop?
